The Internet of (Moving) Things (IoT/IoMT) is about collecting important information from smart sensors, devices and controls and being able to make decisions and take action. The data also helps gain actionable insights. Built as an Industrial IoT platform, Redpoint creates intelligent and connected devices that extend existing manufacturing, 3PL and supply chain management to include broader, more detailed visibility and automated control.
For applications that require the collection and tracking of data from other types of sensors (ex. temperature, air quality), Redpoint products have interfaces that enable the integration of these additional sensors. The software interfaces (APIs) provide management of all sensors and sensor data and it associates sensor data with a location. Additionally, actuators can be controlled through the same sensor interfaces. All these are accomplished within a single deployment of a Redpoint network.
The following are some IIoT applications built by our partners:
Environment monitoring：In a hazardous environment like a nuclear power plant, environmental monitoring for safety and energy management is required. Sensors, such as a thermal meter or a dosimeter are used to collect data to create a heatmap that displays readings such as temperature or radiation concentration in real-time and continuously. In this use case, actuators are implemented that can control the environment by turning on fans at a specific location based on the intelligence provided and alerts are generated.
Entry access control：To allow access for authorized personnel to a restricted area, entry is detected and triggers a gate or door to open based on proximity of the person or vehicle and their authorization parameters.
Emergency navigation：In difficult environments like tunnels and mines, wearable devices with Redpoint RTLS and integrated biometric information leads at risk workers to safety and the nearest exit.
